Amazon marketing · Answer
The short answer
There is no fixed price. Amazon India charges per click, and the click costs roughly ₹7 in a cheap category like books up to about ₹19 in a contested one like beauty, with competitive D2C categories commonly landing between ₹12 and ₹35. Sponsored Products has no minimum spend, so you can technically start at ₹100 a day. About ₹500 a day is the point below which you will not gather enough data in a month to know what is working.
Amazon advertising is an auction, not a rate card. You bid for a click, you pay when somebody clicks, and what you pay is set by what your competitors were willing to pay for the same shopper at the same moment. This is why no agency can quote you a price before looking at your category.
Reported India cost per click sits around ₹7 for books at the cheap end and around ₹19 for beauty at the contested end, with most D2C categories quoted between ₹12 and ₹35. Top of search placement carries a premium of roughly 20 to 40 percent over the same keyword lower down the page.
Sponsored Products has no minimum spend, which is a genuinely low barrier and also slightly misleading. The real floor is set by data, not by Amazon.
At ₹300 a day in a category with a ₹15 click, you buy about 20 clicks. If your listing converts at 8 percent, that is roughly 1.6 orders. Thirty days of that is a sample too small to tell you which keyword deserves the money, so you end up optimising noise. Around ₹500 a day is where most accounts start producing findings rather than opinions.
If you cannot commit that yet, spending it on your main image and your A+ content will usually return more than spending it on clicks. A better listing lowers the cost of every click you buy later.
Cost per click is the least useful number in the conversation. What decides profitability is your break-even ACoS, and for Indian sellers that has to be calculated with returns in it. Most calculators leave returns out, which makes your break-even look about twice as forgiving as it is.
A ₹19 click is cheap if the listing converts and the order stays sold. A ₹7 click is expensive if a quarter of those orders come back.
| Category type | Typical CPC |
|---|---|
| Low competition (books, some staples) | ₹2 to ₹8 |
| Medium competition | ₹8 to ₹20 |
| Beauty and contested D2C | ₹12 to ₹35 |
| Top of search placement | 20 to 40 percent above the same keyword lower down |
