Flipkart marketing · Answer
The short answer
Flipkart ads are run from the Advertising tab in Seller Hub. Flipkart offers two campaign types: cost per click (CPC), which buys visibility, and Smart ROI, which bids toward a return you set. A campaign needs a budget of at least ₹1,000, or ₹300 a day on a daily budget, paid from a prepaid Seller Wallet. Your ads show as Product Listing Ads in search and as Product Contextual Ads on other product pages. Judge them on orders that stay delivered, because the ads screen counts orders before returns.
Flipkart Ads is Flipkart's own advertising platform for sellers, and Flipkart says it reaches 45 crore+ customers. Every active seller can use it from Seller Hub. There is no separate advertiser account and no approval step.
You pay for clicks, at a price set by an auction against other sellers in your category. The money comes from a Seller Wallet that you top up in advance, and Flipkart sometimes adds free credits that you can spend alongside it.
Paying for a click only buys a visit. Whether it becomes a sale depends on the listing it lands on: price, images, rating and stock. Flipkart's own guidance says the same thing, and it's the reason we fix listings before we raise bids.
Flipkart's own advice is to use CPC when a product isn't being seen: a new listing, a slow mover, or a product buried among competitors. Use Smart ROI when people see the product but you need every rupee to return a minimum, which suits low-margin and high-converting listings. Flipkart notes that Smart ROI may give you less visibility than CPC.
Smart ROI will chase whatever return you give it. Set that target from your margin on delivered orders, after returns, and never from the ROI figure on the ads screen. A target built on the wrong number gets pursued very efficiently.
Product Listing Ads (PLA) appear in search results, category pages and recommendation slots when a shopper searches. Product Contextual Ads (PCA) appear on competitor and complementary product pages, in front of someone who was looking at something else.
A shopper who searched converts better than one who was interrupted, so the two deserve different bids and different expectations. Run them from one budget and the cheaper clicks quietly carry the expensive ones, and neither number tells you anything.
Using the platform is free. Flipkart's minimum is ₹1,000 per campaign, or ₹300 a day if you set a daily budget. After that, what you spend is clicks multiplied by what each click costs in the auction.
Two things move the price of a click more than any setting: how crowded your category is, and the calendar. The same placement costs far more in Big Billion Days week than in March. Our cost page goes through this in detail.
1. Log in to Seller Hub, open the Advertising tab and click Create campaign.
2. Choose CPC or Smart ROI, using the rule above.
3. Pick the products. You can upload up to 2,000 listing IDs in one campaign by CSV, but a first campaign works better with your five to ten best sellers than with the whole catalogue.
4. Set the budget and bids. Keep PLA and PCA in separate campaigns.
5. Top up the Seller Wallet and launch. Then leave it alone for at least a week, and check the search terms weekly, not the ROI hourly.
Flipkart's own best-practice list for ads comes down to four things: product images that meet the category rules, a competitive price, good reviews, and stock. Ads on a listing that fails any of them spend money sending buyers to a page that can't sell.
We add one more: the listing's attribute fields. Sellers who import a catalogue from another marketplace usually leave half of them blank, and those fields feed both organic visibility and where ads can show.
The ads report counts orders when they're placed. In many Indian categories a large share of orders are returned or never delivered, especially on cash on delivery, and each of those costs you shipping both ways and earns nothing.
So take each campaign's orders, remove the returned and undelivered ones, and work out the margin on what's left after Flipkart's fees and product cost. If that margin is smaller than the ad spend, the campaign is losing money whatever the ads screen says. Do it per product, because one good product often hides two that only look profitable.
A large share of a Flipkart year can be decided in a handful of event weeks, and click prices rise with them. A flat monthly budget spends the same in a dead week as in the week that decides the year.
Hold part of the budget back for the events, get listings and stock ready weeks before, and test in the quiet months, when clicks are cheaper and mistakes cost less.
Flipkart's Saarthi program, launched in August 2026, matches some sellers with a certified agency partner at no cost, and it's worth trying before you pay anyone to tune bids.
Pay an agency for what the console doesn't show: margin per order after returns, how your budget splits between Flipkart and other marketplaces, and demand that has to come from outside Flipkart search. We run Flipkart ads on a monthly retainer or on revenue share, where the fixed fee is 50% of our usual rate plus a share of marketplace revenue.

Adapted from the business-situation table on Flipkart's seller page. Flipkart calls it a recommended approach, not a rule.
Flipkart's own advertising platform for sellers. You run it from the Advertising tab in Seller Hub and pay per click from a prepaid Seller Wallet.
Log in to Seller Hub, open Advertising, click Create campaign, choose CPC or Smart ROI, pick your products, set a budget of at least ₹1,000 (or ₹300 a day) and top up your Seller Wallet.
There's no fee to use the platform. You pay per click at an auction price, with a minimum of ₹1,000 per campaign or ₹300 a day on a daily budget. Click prices rise in event weeks like Big Billion Days.
PLA shows your product in search results when a shopper searches. PCA shows it on other products' pages. PLA usually converts better because the shopper was already looking, so budget and judge them separately.
Up to 2,000 listing IDs by CSV upload, according to Flipkart. Most campaigns do better with far fewer, focused on products that already sell.
Try Flipkart's free Saarthi program first if your problem is inside the ads console. Hire an agency when you need margin per order after returns and one plan across Flipkart and other marketplaces.
