Flipkart marketing · Answer
The short answer
You need a GSTIN, a PAN, an active bank account, a pickup address and at least one product to list. Registration on Seller Hub is free and the form itself takes minutes. GST is the requirement that stops most people, because it is mandatory for marketplace selling in almost every taxable category rather than optional below a turnover threshold.
A GSTIN registered to the business, a PAN, a bank account in the same name for settlements, and a pickup address that a courier can actually reach on working days.
GST is the one people ask about most. Selling through a marketplace is treated differently from selling on your own, and the turnover exemption that applies to a small independent business generally does not carry over. Books are the commonly cited exception. Confirm your own position with your accountant, not a seller forum.
Registering is not the same as being allowed to list. Several categories are restricted and need brand authorisation, compliance documents or quality certification before a listing goes live.
This is where new sellers lose weeks. The account is approved, the listings are written, and then the category refuses them. Check the restrictions for your category before you build the catalogue, not after.
Product images that meet the category specification. Rejected images are the single most common reason a launch slips, and reshooting is slower than shooting once properly.
Your fee stack worked out, so that your launch prices are not below your own break-even. Commission, fixed fee, shipping, collection fee and GST on all of it.
A view on returns for your category. It changes what you can afford to charge, and it is easier to price for at the start than to correct after reviews accumulate.
